i have a corrupt entourage database and when i choose to rebuild it using
the option/launch entourage i get the following error aafter about ten
minutes.

"the database could not be rebuilt because there is not enough room on the
disk to create the new database"

my current database is 2.7 gigs and i have 15 gigs available so i have no
idea what this message is about. i'm running osx 10.3 on a powerbook g4
1.25ghz and 2 gigs of ram.

ANY HELP WOULD BE REALLY APPRECIATED.

Is the database on the startup disk, or have you moved it to a separate
partition? The rebuild process only checks for space on the startup
partition, which is the default location for the database.

Barry,

It is on a single partiton in the default location of
users/microsoft/etc/etc. the problem happens after it gets to about 200 of
my 27000 recordes and then gives me the out of space error. i absolutly have
enogh hard disk space available for it to rebuild.

Might it be possible that the original corruption issue is linked to
the inability to rebuild issue and that indeed they are one and the
same problem?

Is it remotely possible that;

1. The DB file is over-sized (2gig?) and the rebuild threatens to
exceed this limit?
2. Have you emptied trash and run disk untilities to ensure all your
HDD is accessible?

My father is having a similar issue. It said it had to compress th
data. I forced the rebuild. After the rebuild was successful data wa
MISSING.

His database is quite large like yours. I have not found a solution.
am suggesting to him to upgrade to the new version so he can talk t
Microsoft tech support

Well, after trying to run the normal rebuild three times I decided to
bite the bullet and try the advanced option. It ran and I lost about
half of my data. Why this option runs and the basic would not I have no
idea. Lot of time and data lost. As for the size of the DB and HD space
left for the rebuild I had plenty of room and the DB was not to large
to rebuild.
