Corrupt files

Office documents I try to open come out as just a bunch
of "y"'s. This happens in only one folder. All other
office docs in other folders are fine. Any suggestions?

Any more information? Mind readers we are not.

What version of Office? What is your Operating System version? What program
are you using? What is the file type? Is the location on a local drive or a
network drive? Do otherd\s have the same problem with the same file? Do you
get any error messages? Do other files in the same directory open fine for
you? For others?

Forgive please...

Office 2000
WinXP Home
File type - xls, doc, ppt, any office file, but only in
one folder.
Location- local; c:\my documents\.....
Others don't have this problem because others don't have
these files.
No error messages
Other office files in other folders in My Documents open
fine.

If you move these files to another folder, do they open okay? What is your
default language setting/version of Windows/Office? Do you have a default
printer installed? Did you update your video drivers recently?

The one article I found pertains to Word 2000:

One last time, and I hope this is not the case:

My best advice if this is true, then go to symantec and see their article on
completely cleaning your system.
