Corrupt fonts?? MAC

All of a sudden Word (Mac version 11.3.6) will not completely open. First I
had a bunch of "corrupt font" windows open, I mean like a lot. Then I
forced quit because it would not stop popping up (saying a different font
each time). Know It just starts to open and starts the beach ball swirl and
nothing??? Any ideas.
I have a quad core MAC Pro
