I have a situation on one of my user's W2k laptops where he is unable to run
any Office XP applications, due to an error that keeps appearing:
Microsoft [Excel/Word/whatever] has not been installed for the current user.
Please run setup to install the application.
I have tried running the setup from both the add/remove programs applet, and
the CD, whichever I run I get the following error:
Windows Installer
This patch package could not be opened. Verify that
the patch package exists and that you can access it, or
contact the application vendor to verify that this is a
valid Windows Installer patch package.
Is there a way of purging all installation files or doing a manual
uninstall? I am at a loss as to what to do, short of reinstalling the entire
laptop. The poor (remote) user cannot do any work at the moment...
thanks,
