Just a tip for anyone whose Powerpoint 2002 exits/crashes when coming in
contact with mp3s, or it doesn't even loadup at the beginning (you might
catch some error with your MCI, just b4 your powerpoint exits, saying that
"file may be corrupt, not in the correct format, or no file handler available
for this format").
I finally managed to solve the problem after many many hours, thx to this
Discussion Grp and more specifically, Sonia's tute on how PPT handles
multimedia files
(http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/basics.htm).
SOLUTION: As mentioned by some ppl in this Discussion Grp, your file may not
be corrupt after all (cos it plays fine using other players). The problem is
with your DRIVERS/CODECS. They may be corrupted/incompatible with the MCI
that PPT calls to handle multimedia files. So uninstall any MP3
drivers/codecs (especially ppl who installed 'codec packs' take note!!!), and
try it again.
Hope this helps, sorry if there are any mistakes on my end, but this is
basically what i did and it worked. Cheers
