corrupt PST, ScanPST failure, PST2GB

I ran PST2GB.exe (after having determined that my PST file's being
over 2GB caused it to stop working), and am now running Inbox Repair
Tool. The initial diagnosis scan completes and at the step where I'm
given the option to repair the file, I select the Repair option. It
is consistently after this point (3 times now) that the program stops
responding and no there's no further action. Can anyone suggest how I
can overcome this step?
