Corrupted Document

I have a document that was saved but is now filled with gibberish. Please
tell me there is a way to fix this, as this is a rather long document that I
do not have a backup of.

Forgot to mention the specifics - Windows XP Pro, Word 2002 (Office XP
version) with SP2
