Corrupted message

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Power PC Email Client: pop I keep getting a message when I backup my database that there was a problem backing up one of my email messages. The suggestion is to run the database utility, which I do but it doesn't keep the message from popping up again when I backup the next time.
Is there a way to pinpoint which message is the problem in the database?
Also, is there a way to scan the messages for viruses once they are in the database?
Thanks,
Wm

Is there a way to pinpoint which message is the problem in the database?

Download and run this script.

Export folders as MBOX files (includes subfolders)
<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/downloads/scripts/jolly/Make_MBOX.zip>

It will fail on the folder with corruption. Divide the folder into sections
until you find the section with the corrupt message.
Also, is there a way to scan the messages for viruses once they are in the
database?

There are no Mac viruses. If you need to scan so you don't send to a Windows
user, then you'll need to install and follow the directions for the software
you select.

Diane, I ran the script and fails on my sent folder. I click on the mbox file on my desktop and it opens entourage. How do I determine which file is corrupt. I have files that date back 10 years. I'm just not clear as to how to find the file inside the folder.

Diane,

How do you determine which file in the folder is corrupt. When I click on the mbox file on my desktop, it just opens entourage.
In other words, now I know the corruption is in my sent folder, but where?

Start dividing the Sent folder into subfolders. I would start by year. Once
you find the year that is having the problem, divide it into quarters.
Further divide until you find the corruption. It¹s a long tedious process.
