Hey,
One of my users got his Outlook 07 NK2 file corrupted... i didnt funned any
free tool for recovering it.
is there any microsoft tool?
So how critical can a local nickname cache be? It's just a convenience
feature for quick access to previously entered recipients. If these
recipients are important then they should be in a contact-type folder
for permanent storage.
Just delete the .nk2 file and let the user start rebuilding it anew.
The proper recovery tool would be the backups that should be performed
regularly on the host. If you don't backup, you deem your data as
trivial or reproducible. Yes, MS includes a backup program (file mode
only) but there are better backup alternatives. So does "my user" mean
you are an IT admin or corporate sysadmin working on an employee's host?
If so, the company should be running backup clients hooking into an
enterprise-grade backup solution. If this is some home user, they
should consider doing backups if they want to recover from problems.
