Corrupted normal.dot

It seems that every time I record a macro in Word 2003, my normal.dot becomes
corrupted and various menu options are grayed out.

I have searched the Board and found the "windord /a" switch which does
restore the menu options, but of course looses all of my macros.

Anyone have ideas as to why the normal.dot keeps getting corrupted and what
I might be able to do to fix it permanently?

To see if it is your macros causing the problem, instead of saving them to
normal.dot, create a mymacros.dot file and save them in there. If you put
the mymacros.dot template into Word Startup folder, they will load on Word
starting and be available as a globally.
