Corrupted program

I just took the automatic updates on Windows and it has corrupted my fonts in
Word 2003. I have removed and re-installed the program and it still won't
work. anyone have any suggestions. Is my only solution to upgrade to 2007
which I am not sure that I like yet?

How do you know that your fonts are corrupt? What symptoms do you have? Do
any other applications - including Windows - display fonts correctly?

Thanks Terry...yes I downloaded 2007 trial version and it is working fine. I
would prefer to keep 2003 at this point due to a limited budget....however if
I can't fix this I will have to upgrade. If I try to type something in lets
say Algerian.....it just comes out standard New Times Roman 10pt....and my
default is Verdana anyway. It won't let me change anything. I have unloaded
the software and reloaded again and even that won't help. Don't know what to
do at this point.
Thanks.....

Word's hard coded font is TNR 10 pt. If Word gets into a style conflict
situation where it doesn't know what you intend, it will always default back
to TNR 10 pt. But here I am thinking, did you download the language pack for
Office 2007? It won't type Algerian without the Algerian extensions added.
But I am not sure that I have seen an Algerian pack for Word 2007 (unless
they use standard Arabic).

There is an actual font called Algeria with kind of really funky letters...
not algerian as in arabic writing. It is kind of like Balloons. I use all
kinds of artistic fonts for different purposes....and so I just chose
Algerian as it is so flowery. It is an actual font that comes included in
with the normal fonts in Word....at least it has always been there in my
application..
Thanks...

That got a big laugh from me! Of course you meant that Algerian font! I
presume that it is only Algerian that is corrupt and other fonts are OK?

Try going into the Control Panel, Fonts applet and removing Algerian font.
Then open Word and select Word Options, Resources, Run Microsoft Office
Diagnostics. That should detect the missing Algerian font and reinstall the
font set.

Sorry....it did not work. Something must really be corrupted because no font
will work and I can't even change the pt. size either. Help!

If this is ONLY Word, are you sure you are not using Draft View, because
that what it sounds like? Look in Tools, Options, View tab.
