Could not connect to Server error

Frequently - but not always - I get an error message when starting up Project
Pro (2007) indicating "Connection time out. (ID=0x800a1527)".

We are using Project Server 2007. The 'retry' option always appears to
work, but doesn't really - projects are either (a)available only in read-only
mode, or (b)cannot be published (the option is grayed out).

This happens on various machines and to various users - but not always. It
can usually be solved by rebooting the PC, but not always the first time -
and sometimes just repeated attempts to start Project Pro will result in
success.

I suspect a timing issue on the network or Project Server side, but am at a
loss how to 'prove' or fix it.

Any ideas welcome....

Hi Keith,

My gut feeling tells me that this is a network issue. The error message you
receive gives the indication that MS Project cannot connect to Project Server
and therefore times out.

When you say that it happens only on view PC's for view users, are their
always the same users and the same PC's? If so I would investigate what the
difference is between the working PC's and the non working PC's

I would assume that you dont have issues accessing PWA?
Are there any event log errors on the Project Server Server?
Thanks

Hi Keith,

it appears that the users try to access some SharePoint BDC ( business data
cataloge). Can you tell me when exactly they get the error message if they
dont get this when accessing PWA.
Do you have any BDC web parts on the sites they try to access?
