Could not install the custom actions

Hi All,

I have been using Outlook 2000 and OutlookXP with custom forms and had
no problems with it at all in the past. Now that I have installed
Outlook 2003 and when I run the one and only custom form I have, I get
the following error "Could not install the custom actions". After I
click OK the form pops up. Any idea what is causing this? Thanks in
advance!

Hi John,

I too am receiving the same error message when trying to open a
Outlook 2003 form created in Outlook 2000. Same situation as yours.
The form works fine in Outlook 2000, but not in Outlook 2003; however
after clicking OK on the error message, the form opens. There is n
custom visual basic script in the form. I have tried clearing th
cache and republishing the form, but neither works. Have you receive
any suggestions to fix this problem?

Try republishing the form. We don't know the cause yet, but that seems to
help at least some people.

Hi Sue and John,

I tried republishing the form and clearing the cache, but these option
did not work. However, I was finally able to get in contact with a
excellent software engineer at Microsoft who identified the problem a
an internal MAPI field that stores the information. Outlook 2003 use
a new platform and some of the items from Outlook 2000 were not bein
converted properly. He sent me an e-mail with more details on th
solution. I will attach it to this post. Microsoft now knows tha
this is a problem - I also directed them to this site for more info
and it should make it easier for the next person who calls them. I
looks like there's some programming involved in the fix. If this doe
not work, then he recommended creating the form from scratch in Outloo
2003. I hope this information helps everyone else on this forum wh
