"could not open macro storage"

Hi,

I have a macro/vb code that was written under Word 97, stored under
normal.dot.

I have recently upgraded to Word 2003 but I can no longer get into the
VBA code and I get the message "could not open macro storage" or "an
error occurred while loading..." when I click on the toolbar button to
run the macro.

Why won't 2003 convert it into the new format, if indeed there is a
new format? I'd like to be able to continue using this macro.

Any ideas?
