Since I was having trouble with Entourage 2004 (kept asking me to access keychain) I installed Entourage 2008. Had trouble with this message as soon as program started. After hitting OK it went away, and I was able to use the program fine as the import of the 04 database was fine. However, as soon as I switch to Contacts, it really hangs with this message and I have to force quit. I tried everything i could think of - rebuilt database, no help - removed Office 08 along with all prefs and identity files and reinstalled and reimported from 04 identity - no help.

What version of Tiger? 10.4.???
Since I was having trouble with Entourage 2004 (kept asking me to access
keychain) I installed Entourage 2008.

This indicates Keychain problems. Use Keychain First Aid on your keychain.
Had trouble with this message as soon as
program started.
That's because it's not Entourage that is the problem.
After hitting OK it went away, and I was able to use the
program fine as the import of the 04 database was fine. However, as soon as I
switch to Contacts, it really hangs with this message and I have to force
quit.

This is a different issue.

First, let's determine if the problem is your Contacts, your Identity, a
problem in your User's folder or a system wide problem.

1) make a backup in the Finder of your Identity.
2) Export your contacts as Entourage archive (.rge). Under File in the Menu
bar select Export --> Contacts as Entourage archive (.rge)
3) Create a new Identity in Entourage (under Entourage in the menu bar)
4) Import the Entourage archive (.rge) (See movie
<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/video/Import_rge/index.html>)
5) If your problem goes away when you switch to Contacts this indicates
that any corruption was fixed by exporting, or there was no corruption in
the data.
6) Go back to your original Identity. Select All contacts and delete.(this
is why we made a backup...a safety net if things go wrong)
7) Import the Entourage archive (.rge)
8) Did the problem go away. If yes, then you are OK and the export/import
fixed the corruption.
9) If no, it is either your User's folder or system files that are the
problem.

Let me know the results and we can go from there.

I also suggest you apply the latest Apple combo updater.Doing so overwrites
potentially problem-causing files. Combo updaters will install on the same
version as they¹re applying‹no need to roll back or do a clean install.

Tiger:

Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update (PPC)
<http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateppc.html>

Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update (Intel)

I tried everything i could think of - rebuilt database, no help -
removed Office 08 along with all prefs and identity files and reinstalled and
reimported from 04 identity - no help.

Sometimes new imported Identities to Entourage 2008 cannot be fixed by
rebuilding. You will need to manually move into a new Entourage 2008
Identity. After this rebuild should work as expected. How to manually move
your data:
