"Could not open the communication device"

Dear Mac Pros,

I am trying to get my communications up and running again and I am having
some trouble with Entourage 11.0.0 that came with my Office 2004 for the
Mac. I am running system 10.3.4 and I am using Safari 1.2.2 v. 125.8 as my
browser. When I try to do a send and receive with the Entourage I get the
message "Could not open the communication device." I can connect just fine
with my dial up provider and I can go on the internet just fine with Safari.
I can even use my old Outlook Express in System 9 to send and receive my
email. I just cant seem to get Entourage to work.

Interestingly, I could get it to work with my stateside provider. Now, I am
in Russia and I can't get it to send and receive emails. Instead I get the
message "Could not open the communication device."

I would be eternally grateful for any help.

Thanks!

Darin

Have you checked your active ports (System Preferences > Network > Show >
Network Port Configurations) to make sure the right ports are active and are
in your order of preference?

The message is refering to the Modem.
You will have to change the modem setting in the Port Configuration.

To do this follow thses steps;

1. Go to "System Perferances"
2. Open Network and select "Network Port Configurations"
3. Move the "Internal Modem" to the top of that list.
4. Select Internal Modem and see if all the settings are ok.

Does it resolve the issue, pls revert.
