I have read many threads about this error message and I completely understand
that it means one person is updating the record while someone else is trying
to update it...Makes perfect sense...

I too have a front/back Access 2003 shared by 40+ employees...

We got this message today when trying to ADD a record. NO ONE else was
accessing the record...it was confirmed, however I do of people accessing the
table. One of our Project Managers was viewing his projects (completely
different records in the same table) and when I asked him to exit the form
(called BLog), I was able to ADD the record. He was not adding, deleting or
editing...just viewing his records on a specific project.

We have been using this system for many months with no issues like this.

Thoughts on what caused this error?
Thanks,
David

First, a little more information. Is this Access 2003. If so have you
installed service pack 3? Have you installed all the hotfixes and patches?
There is a very common problem with 2003 that would cause what you are
talking about. Second, is your database split? If so, the BE file has to
allow users read/write/edit/delete priviledges. The folder it resides in does
also. Have you implemented any security? If so do all the users have rights?

Golfinray,

Yes Access 2003, Yes Split, Yes all users have r/w/e/d, Yes I have security
and Yes everyone has rights, Not sure about patches and hotfixes on all the
PC in the Comapny...good thought! I will have my IT guru take care of that.
This may solve other problems I've been seeing to...

Thanks,
David

Yes, lots of problems that those hotfixes and patches fix. Good luck!
