Couldn't find system.mdw

I have updated a laptop from WindowsME to WindowsXP and re-installed Office
2000 SR1 Professional. I cannot start MsAccess now. Whenever I try it goes
through a repair cycle then says that it couldn't find file System.mdw. Can
anyone tell me how I can fix this please?
