count characters by they popularity

Hi

I'm using Office 2000. I want it to count characters by they
popularity in the document, for example: "today it was a shiny day"

Statistics :
The character "t" Appears 2 times.
The character "o" Appears 1 times.
The character "d" Appears 1 times.
The character "a" Appears 2 times.
The character "y" Appears 3 times.
And so on…

If Office doesn't support it what application does.?

I doubt any application provides such arcane functionality
which is why Microsoft includes VBA in Word and other
applications. Someone could write a VBA solution for
you if this unusual objective is worth persuing.

Ok I've found alternative for this objective. Now I need to sort it. I
need to sort the frequency of a character in a table while the most
popular in top, for example:

a = 25
b = 46
c = 79
d = 12
e = 48

I want Word to sort it this way :

c = 79
e = 48
b = 46
a = 25
d = 12
