Count selected mail merge records

Is there a way to count the number of records selected (checked off) in the
mail merge recipients form (step 3 of the mail merge wizard)?

I've been playing with ActiveDocument.MailMerge.DataSource.ActiveRecord =
wdLastRecord but that only gives the record number of the last selected
record.

If I check off records 1 and 5 I'd like to be able to return a count of 2.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
