Count text, the result of a Formula,

Is there a way to count text, whixh is the result of a formula. All
the functions I try and the erray formulas mentioned, also count the
formulas as text. I am using the "if" formula which will produce a
balnk cell if conditions are not met, else a result which is a text
string. If I now want to count the occurances of a text string, the
formula is also included in the count, even though the result has
produced a blank cell. Is there a way to do such a count?

The "If" formula cannot produce a blank cell. At best it can produce a cell
that contains an empty string or an error value.

An empty string is considered to be text. You may have more luck producing
an error value.
