Countif Function ">75%"

Hi Guys,
I want to count cells which contain the text ">75%".
The problem is that Excel does not recognise it as a text (also after
having changed the format)It counts only values above 75% if you enter
this formel:
countif(A1:A10,">75%").
But I want to count the cells with ">75%".

=SUMPRODUCT((A1:A10=">75%")*1)

if you are looking for the text string ">75%"
