Counting cells with certain color

Is there a way, using (I suppose) the COUNTIF(range,
criteria) function, to count how many cells in a
specified range have a certain color fill?

What I am trying to do is create a sheet that has
different cells filled in different ways, and then count
how many cells have no fill, how many are blue, how many
ar green, etc.
