Counting fill color.

I'm trying to write a formula that will count a cell if it
has a certain fill color. For example, I have a range of
cells, A1:A3, where A1 & A2 are filled with yellow and A3
has no fill. I need a formula that will return a 2 for the
2 yellow cells and then return a 3 if I fill A3 with
yellow.

I need the formula to be specific to the color so that I
can use multiple colors in the same range and then be able
to count each of the different colors in that range
regardless of what type of value is in the cell.
