Counting partial info within a cell

Hi,
Can someone please help me with the formula to count part of info in a
column? Ex: All cells contain combinations of colors "red blue green"
and "green yellow red" and I only need to count the ones that have
"red" in them. Is this a version of a "countif" formula? Any help is
appreciated!Thanks very much!

Yes, you can use COUNTIF...

=COUNTIF(A1:A100,"*red*")

or

=COUNTIF(A1:A100,"*"&B1&"*")

....where B1 contains the criteria, such as red.
