Counting words across multiple documents

D

DIAMOND Mark R.

I'm using Word97 SR-2. Please could someone show me how to count words
across multiple documents. Basically I have book chapters in separate
documents and would like to get a total word count easily. Is there a macro
that will do this, and if so, can I download it from somewhere?

I expect that I should be using some sort of master document, but since I
mostly use TeX and rarely use Word, I haven't mastered the arcane parts of
Word ... yet.

Cheers

If it's just a one-time deal, Mark, just open your first file, save it to a
new name, and hit Ctrl+End, then Insert-File and choose file#2, ctrl+End,
Insert-File and choose file#3. Get your word count when you're done. There
are macros that would insert all the files for you, but till I find it and
we implement it for you, you might as well do it manually.

Hope this helps!
