I HAVE A SPREADSHEET THAT HAS SEVERAL ENTRIES THAT ARE
THE SAME EX COLUMN 1 IS TELEPHONE NUMBERS COLUMN 5 TELLS
ME IF ITS A B( BUSINESS) H(HOME) C(CELL) I WANT TO INSET
A MACRO AT THE END OF EACH COLUMN THAT WOULD ADD HOW MANY
TELEPHONE NUMBERS ARE IN THE COLUMN THAT ARE UNLIKE ( AS
IN COUNTING EACH DIFFERENT ENTRY AS 1) AND ON THE COLUMN
5 HOW MANY UNLIKE B,H,C GO WITH COLUMN 1 WITHOUT HAVING
TO COPY THE TWO COLUMNS TO ANOTHER SPREADSHEET - FILTER
ADVANCE UNIQUE RECORDS ONLY - I NEED A MACRO THAT I CAN
ADD AT THE END OF THE COLUMNS THAT WOULD DO THIS
AUTOMATICALLY

Can you repost using normal writing, all caps are both considered rude
(shouting) and harder to read..

I have a spreadsheet that has several entries that are
the same: ex:
customer address name account
5554657899 15 shaw columbus ohio brian shaw c
5467854444 20 glad st hon, hawaii don jackson b
5554657899 15 shaw columbus ohio brian shaw h
5648972211 200 5th chicago, il jan slack b
5554657899 15 shaw columbus ohio brian shaw c
5554657899 15 shaw columbus ohio brian shaw c
5648972211 200 5th chicago, il jan slack b
5554657899 15 shaw columbus ohio brian shaw h
column one is telephone umbers where column 4 tells me b-
biz, c- cell, h-homeI want to put a macro at the end of
column 1 and column 4 that would add up how many entries
are unlike while show how many c,b,h of unlike entries by
column 1 without having to copy column 1 and column 4 to
another sheet - runn autofilter - unique - copy- pase
again ue countdif on column 1 and countif on column 4
three times to get b,h,c totals - I need a macro that can
do this at the end of several entries divided by states -
so i have a lst from ohio - a list from calif etc and
each has several entries i would like the macro to do it
automatically - I am sorry about the caps- I never meant
to be perceived as rude - I got wrapped up in the
explanation - I didn't notice - Please accept my
apologies!

Hi Nanc..........

I can't give you the "macro" you're looking for but I do have a couple of
thoughts to offer.......first, is it absolutely necessary for you to
maintain duplicate rows in your database?......if not, just getting rid of
the extras would seem to help part of your problem. (This process can be
automated). If you have additional data further out the rows that make
them unique, but still want to group then according to columns A and D, then
you might concatenate them (=A1&D1 and copy down a spare helper column), and
sort on that column. Another thing you might look into for separating the
States, etc, is the Data > Subtotals feature..........
