Country Code - removing

I am trying to find out if there is a way to remove the
feature in Contacts that automatically fills in the United
States of America country code in contacts.

You can't. There should be no need to, either. This has been normal behavior
in Outlook since day 1. The country is tied to your regional settings in
Control Panel. If you want to prevent it from being displayed in Word when
you insert an address, you need to edit the AutoText layout that controls
this. See
