Hi Shelly:
1) Start Word (to a blank document)
2) Choose "Open" from the Pizza Button (Microsoft Office button)
3) Change the "Type" at the bottom of the dialog to "Recover text from
files of any time"
4) Navigate to the file in question, select it, and OK.
This technique will get the text out if it can. You will lose all the
formatting.
You have landed in the Macintosh Word group by mistake. Sorry about that,
not your fault: the Microsoft website design is appalling!!
