Is it secure and safe to open Access97 database in
AccessXP and convert it and use it.

Keep a backup of course! Also, Compact and Repair the A97 database
before trying the conversion; open the VBA editor and Compile the
database, and fix any compilation errors.
But yes, generally this conversion goes reasonably well. Depending on
how much VBA code you have implemented, some of your code may need
editing. Post back if the converted database gives compile errors in
its code or otherwise shows strange behavior.
