Most printers have no built-in processing so all the print
commands must come from the system CPU. If the document has
embedded images, the location of those images must be
calculated as the page is prepared to be sent to the
printer.
If the printer is set to begin printing as soon as possible,
pages will be sent to the printer while other pages are
still being formatted and this is a very intensive
operation.
Make sure you have an adequate amount of memory assigned to
the print spooler (cache memory for the printer) and set the
printer to begin printing after the pages are formatted.
That will reduce the CPU load.
