Crack mdb

N

Nigel Scott

Does anyone know if the data in a backend mdb can be hacked if it is
secured with full user-level Access security (ie is the backend safe
to email as long as the mdw is not emailed as well)?

I know there is the undocumented privDBEngine object but I wondered if
any of the utilities on the hack sites can get into the mdb if the mdw
is not present.

Any advice appreciated

Cheers

Hi, Nigel.

If your data needs to be safeguarded, then don't store it in an Access
database file, even if you use a secure connection. The database can be
hacked into after it arrives at the destination, if that's what you're
worried about.
I know there is the undocumented privDBEngine object

This is documented by Microsoft. However, it isn't supported by Microsoft.

For a price, these tools can be purchased by _anyone_. That's why you
shouldn't store secure data in an Access database file.
