Crash and ongoing cache update

Joe K

I installed a Visio 2002 version (individual license) in
combination with an Office XP Enterprise license on my
machine.
When starting Visio, I each time get a message "Visio is
updating its directory cache", accompanied by a pretty
lengthy directory scanning process. I have not found any
place in the options to turn this off.
When closing Visio, the app at a first glance closes
corrctly. But then I do get a crash error message.
I am using Windows XP Pro.
I get the impression that the cache update is not stored
when closing the app and it might cause this crash?!
Does somebody have an idea what could be wrong and how to
get rid of this cache update thing?
Thanks
Joe

Hello Joe,

Log off from the computer then Log in to the computer with different User
account and try and launch Visio. If Visio works fine in different user
account, then loog and and log in with the orignal user account and search
for "Visio.bin" and "visio.ini" files and rename them. Then go to run and
type "visio.exe /r". This launch Visio.
