Crash help

Word started crashing continuously a couple of nights ago. It started crashing only when I tried to save something (.docx or .dot) and now it just crashes at any moment on any document. The last thing I did when it worked was insert online microsoft clip art. I have been reading the other entries that sound similar to my problem and trying the suggestions, but nothing has helped. I then tried to install the newest version of Office and got the message: cannot install on HD because a version of the software required to install this update was not found on this volume and I could not choose anything but HD. Any step by step instructions (also not computer savvy) that will help me be able to work on my computer again? Thank you!

I just wanted to add on to my original message that I'm saving in .docx and .doc (not .dot). Also, when I tried permission repairs I got these messages:

ACL found but not expected on "System/Library/User template/ ..." more than 50 times with a different ending most times and also

"Warning: SUID file 'usr/bin/lppassword' has been modifieyd and will not be repaired" and

"Warning: SUID file 'System /Library/Core services/Finder. app/Contents/REsources/ Owner Group tool' has been replaced and will not be repaired."

I have no idea what all of this means, but I hope it helps clarify the problem a little bit!

"Warning: SUID file 'usr/bin/lppassword' has been modifieyd and will not be
repaired" and

"Warning: SUID file 'System /Library/Core services/Finder.
app/Contents/REsources/ Owner Group tool' has been replaced and will not be
repaired."

This is a known and harmless bug. Apple says you can safely ignore it.
