I select a range and click autosort and excel starts beach balling, then crashes. Every time. What could be causing this or is there a workaround? I'm pretty new to excel. Thanks!

Well, since I'm not seeing anything like that here nor have I seen any other
reports of such a problem it's most likely a local issue. Make sure you have
Office fully updated - You don't mention your current update level but
12.1.7 is where it should be. Use Help> Check for Updates in either Office
program to be sure.

If that isn't the problem or doesn't correct it you'll need to provide a
details description of exactly how you're attempting to sort & how many rows
are involved. Also, are there any merged cells in the range? What type of
content are you sorting on?

Are you aware that - if you're sorting an entire list - you don't need to
select a range... Simply click in the column you want to sort by then hit
the A-Z/Z-A button. Does that produce the same behavior?

What happens if you use the Data> Sort feature?
