crash on start up- need help

I recently installed Word on my powerbook and had problems with some
fonts, etc. I trashed the program and did a reinstall, but it will
not work. It intializes, then gets stuck on "Font preference menu" as
it reads the start up items and then it crashes and asks for me to
submit a report to apple.

I have no idea on how to correct this....any ideas?

I assume you're talking about Word v.X.

This MSKB article contains a good font troubleshooting procedure.

In addition, you should trash your Office Font Cache, Office
Registration Database and Word Font Substitutes files in your
~:Libraryreferences:Microsoft folder (where ~ is your home directory)
