Crash on startup of Excel

D

Debbie

Excel crashes when I attempt to start the application primarily. The
splash screen shows up, then it crashes and says "The application Excel
has unexpectedly quit."

However, I do not have this problem when I start Excel by opening an
Excel file directly or through another Office program.

I believe somebody previously mentioned a font menu problem but I do
not appear to have any duplicated fonts in the font menu.

Any help would be appreciated!

Yeah, I think this one is a classic. The Project Gallery is probably
making Excel crash. You can disable it and the problem should go away.
Nevertheless, this is only a workaround and there should be a better way
to fix this AND let you use the project gallery.

Nope, this should be a bad QuickTime plugin. The bad plugin is usually a
DivX plug-in. If you have the DivX plug-in for QuickTime installed, you
should first try updating it to the latest version (5.1).
If you don't have it, you should try disabling your thrid party
QuickTime plug-in one by one (they are in /Library/QuickTime plugin and
~/Library/QuickTime plugin).

This usually does the trick ;-))
