I have Outlook 2002 running under XP, configured for
IMAP. Up until a week ago it ran fine, then I had a
memory full warning and Outlook (not any other Office
products) began to do the following .
When Outlook starts . I get the following message every
time .
"Your offline changes are not up to date. Outlook is now
attempting to rebuild the offline change database.
This ..."
This process seems to be working for a minute or so .
there is a message (bottom left tray) "(3 items
remaining) Loading dataset ..."
Then the OK button becomes active and the it is possible
to send and receive individual items of mail, but
pressing 'Send/Receive' on the Toolbar .. Gives the usual
progress window .
And (almost always) by the time it has run for a few
seconds you get .
"Microsoft Outlook as encountered a problem ... We are
sorry ...
From which there is no retreat.
There is no patch/help available on this on the MS site,
that I can find.
When re-started, the same old palaver begins again .
I have:
1. Removed and Reloaded all of Office from the CD
2. Downloaded all the OS and Office patches
3. Run the Inbox Repair Tool
So my Outlook remains unstable and crashes in other
situations, mainly when it is communicating with the IMAP
server. Running Outlook 2000, with the same data files
(exported) works fine, but this is not, of course quite
the same data.
Rather a long description, but is there anyone who can
help? I would very much appreciate any input.
