Crash when opening v.X files in 2004

Hello

Can anyone help. We have recently installed Office 2004 and found that
PowerPoint files created in Office v.X crash the programme when you try to
open them in Office 2004. This is a serious problem because there are
hundreds of presentations we still need to access even though we have made
the decision to move up. Is this a bug that will be fixed?
