Crashed update

Mike

Hi,

I foolishly decided to update my Office 2000 Premium
suite. The web analtser said I need SP1. So downloaded and
applied it, putting in my original CD-ROMS as and when
requested. All well and good. I suppose I should have
known to leave it there.

But no. I decided to download an apply the next update,
which seems to be SP3. All goes along well enough. It asks
for CD-ROM 1, that goes fine. Then it asks for CD-ROM 2
SP1. Well I have CD-ROM 2 but not SP1 as I downloaded the
update from the web. Crash on catch 22.

Does anyone know a work around for this Microsoft bug? The
install / update process likes to be 'discrete'. Am I the
only one in the world wondering exactly what files have
been downloaded, put where, should I burn a CD with them
in case I need to reinstall etc. etc?

You should use the CD which was used for the ORIGINAL install when it calls for the SR1 version.
What it is really asking you for is: The ORIGINAL CD which was used to install this Office product which is NOW at the SR1 level.
