Everytime I boot Word 2002 up, it crashes with a message
box stating it need to close. Clicking on the data report
shows the error signature

AppName: winword.exe AppVer: 10.0.5522.0 ModName:
mso.dll

ModVer: 10.0.4219.0 Offset: 0000de13

Hmmm, I removed a program installed recently to connect
to my uni network, the Novell 32 client, and it now seems
to startup fine. Have there been any incompatibility
problems with this program in the past?

Hi Howard,

What program? Novell 32 client? Not that I know of, but the problem
could stem from using a network printer driver rather than a printer
driver installed locally.

When Word starts it queries the printer driver to determine available
fonts, printable area, etc. If the printer driver is not found then
unfortunately Word will crash. Is it possible this is the case and you
weren't connected to the network when you tried starting Word?

Which btw, they did rectify this problem to a degree in Word 2003.
Word will now display a message regarding the inability to locate the
printer rather than simply crashing.

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.
