T
The Mad Hatter
I don't know how to phrase this really, so I'd just give my eunbiased
xperience on OF 2007.
I have not had problems with 2003, not any serious ones, neither for any
release before that.
However there are a couple of things that are slightly annoying in this
"new" release.
A. It crashes 5-6 times a day...it's not really related to outlook, excel
nor word or any other specific issues. In older office package you'd know
what not to do to avoid a crash. To me this release crashes randomly, but I
think it happens more frequently when I'm over the internet or intranet.
B. When it crashes...it have this annoying thing window of collecting
"data". I'm sure it does something but to my eyes as a user it literally
hangs there for like 10 minutes and lock up my system as such. I can't do
anything else while OF 2007 collects these data..no other program will
run..really OF 2007 takes all my processing power while it collects it's
mistakes, store and send.
Now the funny thing is that most crashes are somehow driver related usually,
or somewhat computer related. But I have two laptops now collecting data on
turns whenever I do edits on sharepoint.
It's not what I'd call a "increase of productivity" - OF 2003 still
outperforms 2007 on that level. I'm not sure how you measure productivity
though..is it CPU processing usage or is it the number of documents I manage
to edit every day?
Please feel free to use this as you wish...but I have just gone through two
edits of a document loaded on sharepoint and I lost both edits. 40 mins + 10
mins of collecting data + 20 mins to reamend + 10 mins again...now..how do I
switch the "collecting data" off?
