Crashing in Office 2007

My copy of Office 2007 Home and Student keeps crashing. This problem isn't
just affecting Office, but I'm also experiencing this problem with Windows
Movie Maker and Media Player 11. Basically in Office it can happen at any
given moment on any of the programs, I can just be in the middle of typing
something or just going through the menus to save a document and the system
will freeze. Now sometimes it will just stay frozen and I have no other
option but to manually reboot and sometimes it will reboot by itself as if it
has detected there is a problem. It can crash just a few seconds after
opening Word, it is really frustrating. Does anyone have any idea what the
problem may be?

I have Windows XP Home Edition with SP2, 1GB RAM and an nVidia GeForce
6600LE Graphics Card.

Right click on my computer, choose Manage. Then expand Event viewer and
pick system. Got any red events in there?

Yes I have, numerous red events, mainly 'Application error' or 'Application
hang' but some specifically say 'Microsoft Office 12'

Any ideas?

Did you check the Application part under Event Viewer or the System
part? If you checked Application, please look in System again.

I was looking under the application tab but there are still some red errors
in System as well. Some say "DCOM" some say "Service Control Manager" and
there are some that say "Tcpip" and "dhcp" and a few known as "SideBySide"

I have no idea what any of these mean or what to do now. Any ideas?

I'd suspect that your system hits some blue screen of deaths
(catastrophic failures) and automatically reboots because of that.
Right-click on My computer, select Properties. Switch to the Advanced
Tab. Then under Startup and Recovery, click Settings. Under System
Failure, uncheck "Automatically Restart". Next time your computer
crashes, it shouldn't restart anymore but rather give you a scary
looking screen with white text on a blue background. When you get it,
write down at least the first half of the screen. That should give
enough info to figure out what is going on.
