Create a CD from a PowerPoint presentation

Hello,

It´s there any way to create a CD from a PowerPoint Presentation as there is
in the Windows version?

No, there is not a built in assistant comparable to the wizard included with
the Windows version of PowerPoint. However, you can choose to save the
presentation as a "PowerPoint Package" (within the "Save As" box). Then,
you can burn the generated folder to a CD using the OS CD burning mechanism
or some other software you'd like.

Hi Carlos,

You can use PowerPoint's File > Make Movie feature to save your presentation
as a QuickTime Movie.

There's a bug in that the movie that is created is not recognized by iMovie
or iDVD, so you have to open the movie in QuickTime Pro ($30 from Apple) and
then export the QuickTime Movie as a QuickTime movie.

Then you can import the movie into iMovie for further polishing or right
into iDVD. In iDVD click the Burn button.

hi is there anyway to force powerpoint to save the package as a .ppt file? it currently uses .pptx whenever i save as a package and i fear that the recipient will not be able to open the file. it also doesnt include a viewer unlike powerpoint 2007 for windows. what should i do?

Hi Daniel,

Good point.

It appears you will have to do manually what Save As PowerPoint Package does
automatically.

First, Make an empty folder.
Next, Make copies of the medial that is linked within your presentation
Next, Save a copy of the presentation into the folder as a .ppt format file
Next, Remove all media links and re-insert the media
Next, hope that when you save the presentation (keeping the format as PPT)
that powerpoint doesn't screw up the links.

Note: You can tell PowerPoint to always use PPT by going to the Preferences
and click on the Save button. There's a toggle for the default format in the
middle of the box.

If the above steps don't work, then you will need Office 2004.

Even if you set the default to .ppt when you save as PowerPoint package in
2008 the presentation in the folder is .pptx

You might want to try the macros here ... I haven't tested them under Mac PPT but I think
they'll generally work. If not, give me a shout.
