Hello,

It´s there any way to create a CD from a PowerPoint Presentation as there is
in the Windows version?

Thanks,

No, there is not a built in assistant comparable to the wizard included with
the Windows version of PowerPoint. However, you can choose to save the
presentation as a "PowerPoint Package" (within the "Save As" box). Then,
you can burn the generated folder to a CD using the OS CD burning mechanism
or some other software you'd like.

Hi Carlos,

You can use PowerPoint's File > Make Movie feature to save your presentation
as a QuickTime Movie.

There's a bug in that the movie that is created is not recognized by iMovie
or iDVD, so you have to open the movie in QuickTime Pro ($30 from Apple) and
then export the QuickTime Movie as a QuickTime movie.

Then you can import the movie into iMovie for further polishing or right
into iDVD. In iDVD click the Burn button.

Hi Daniel,

Good point.

It appears you will have to do manually what Save As PowerPoint Package does
automatically.

First, Make an empty folder.
Next, Make copies of the medial that is linked within your presentation
Next, Save a copy of the presentation into the folder as a .ppt format file
Next, Remove all media links and re-insert the media
Next, hope that when you save the presentation (keeping the format as PPT)
that powerpoint doesn't screw up the links.

Note: You can tell PowerPoint to always use PPT by going to the Preferences
and click on the Save button. There's a toggle for the default format in the
middle of the box.

If the above steps don't work, then you will need Office 2004.

Free programs that play PowerPoint presentations:
OpenOffice

And

NeoOffice

Hi Jim -

Even if you set the default save format PowerPoint> Preferences> Save for
97-2004 before packaging? - I haven't tried it, just asking:)

Slightly different approach to address that last:

Make empty folder
Package to it, allowing PPT to save as PPTX
It should also move all needed media/linked files there and correct the links

Now open the newly saved PPTX file and save it as a PPT.

IOW, let it fix the links by packaging as PPTX to the new folder, and only then
convert to PPT.

Hi,

Even if you set the default to .ppt when you save as PowerPoint package in
2008 the presentation in the folder is .pptx

Hi Steve,

I think your approach will probably work, but I wanted to be conservative
and offer a suggestion that will almost certainly work. Your method did
cross my mind, but I was worried that maybe PowerPoint would not behave well
every time.

Heh ... when has PowerPoint *ever* offered that guarantee? <g>

Using 2004... I've placed everything in one folder. I've checked my links. I've tried Save As PowerPoint Package. The main PPT links to a number of student PPTs. Only a few of them show up in the "package" after the save, and only those few are "found" when I try to show the linked PPTs

Any suggestions? When I look at the "links" CMD-K, I can see that the "missing" still have the original links, rather than the "package links"

You might want to try the macros here ... I haven't tested them under Mac PPT but I think
they'll generally work. If not, give me a shout.

Show me the link and let me edit it
