create a flow chart from an outline

is there a way to create a flow chart automatically from a word outline?
seems like I should be able to highlight an outline and choose a tool to
create a flowchart from which I can customize the chart presented. It seems
like a colossal waste of time to enter the data twice. any thoughts?

I'm currently working on a product to do something similar. The idea is
that you just enter text in a cell and the text is replaced by an
autoshape based on a set of rules. In your case you'd have to hit F2
and Enter, which is kind of a pain.

Unfortunately, the product isn't ready for release yet, but if you want
to be a beta tester, I'd be happy to send you a copy of the beta
version when it's ready. Just send me an email via the contact info on

IIRC, this is the way the old, old Organization Chart template worked in
Word. You'd enter text and format it with heading styles, and then the macro
would produce an org chart based on the heading levels. Find a copy of Word
2.0, say, and you're in business! <g>
