create a generic import path for multiple desktop directories

My questions is when ever I'm importing excel or opening word objects within
access I have to create a fixed directory using VBA, I'm wondering whether
anyone knows how to create a piece of generic code were i can refer to either
object "Excel, Word" within the same folder as the current databases
location. in otherwords Is it possible to create a default directory, so
that I can create a frontend and client side server, and move the front end
onto many desktops without having to amend the code to change with its
location.
