Create a Master Project Template

R

Reuter

Using MSP2003ent.

I have a "Master Project Template" which is on one of my instances and need
to know how to copy it to another instance that I just created. Funny thing
is I know how to delete a template from an instance but not save it to one.

Here's how:

1. Launch Microsoft Project 2003 and connect to the first instance.
2. Click File - New.
3. Click the "On my computer" link in the New Project sidepane.
4. Select the Enterprise Projects tab.
5. Select the Master Project Template enterprise template and click the OK
button.
6. Click File - Save As and then click the Save As File button.
7. Save the project as an MPP file on your hard drive temporarily.
8. Exit Microsoft Project 2003.
9. Relaunch Microsoft Project 2003 and connect to the second Project Server
instance.
10. Click Tools - Enterprise Options - Import Project to Enterprise.
11. Navigate to the location of the Master Project Template MPP file,
select it, and click OK.
12. In the first dialog of the Import Project Wizard, give the enterprise
template a name and set the Type as Template.
13. Work through the rest of the dialog to complete the import process.

Hope this helps.
