Bob is correct (as usual!) Word is not a good weapon for calendars.
Microsoft does not want to offer "real" templates that make calendars,
because that would cut across "sales" of other products.
However, I made one in Excel that you can simply download.
It's in Excel 2008, so you will also need the Office 2008 Converter from the
Mactopia site if you do not already have it.

You don't. Of course, have to keep the colours and decorations: they're just
from one of the Microsoft templates. The active bit is simply the Excel
formulas, which can be copied and pasted into any design of your choosing.
