Create a Report template

Hi everyone,
Being a bit new to using Access (2002), this may seem a simple question (I
hope)
Having painstakingly created a good layout for a Report: how can I save this
as a template so I can easily repeat it for other reports?

You can just save it with a name like "rptTemplate". Then open it in design
view, make changes, and save with a new name.

Unless you have changed the default name, you can save a Form or Report with
the name "normal" and it will be used as the default template for Forms or
Reports in your database. But, it's doesn't provide quite as much formatting
as I might wish. You have to do Control formatting separately... check Help
or use http://groups.google.com to search the archives of this newsgroup and
the USENET newsgroup comp.databases.ms-access for more details.

Thanks Duane,

I tried something similar like copy/paste the report and call it a template.
This is where I get stuck: I want to change the Query or Table source for
this new form - but short of showing the form that the original report used,
I can't work out how to change this.

You can change the query or table by viewing the report properties and
changing the Record Source property.

Generally it isn't a good idea to have multiple reports that are the same
other than the record source.

Great stuff!!
Works a treat.
These repeated reports are to be used as an index - like A-K etc. That
perhaps explains better why I want exactly the same report but from a
different query source.
