Create an inventory form

I would like to create a database to track inventory. I would like to have
in the database a form in which current inventory for an item is displayed
and a text box is used to enter an order amount. Once the text box is
updated, I would like to have the inventory for the item updated in the
table used as a data source for the form. How can this be accomplished?
